    Africa

    Africa is a continent of teenagers. 75% of the population of Sub-Saharan Africa is 21 years of age or younger. Young Life and AfricaHope work investing time, money, and love because they believe that every kid in every country on the African continent should meet Jesus.

    Population: 840,000,000

    Languages: Over one thousand

    Religion: 46% Christian, 41% Muslim, 12% indigenous African religions revolving around animism and ancestor worship. The continent has large pockets of people and whole countries without a presence of Jesus.

    HIV/AIDS: Africa has 65% of the world-wide AIDS-infected population. 25 million people on the continent are HIV-infected. More than eleven million children have been orphaned by AIDS.

    AfricaHope Kenya

    What do they do? AfricaHope advances church ministry, education and health development, food and water security, and ministry to orphans and vulnerable children

    Where? Narok, Kenya

    How do they make an impact? In partnering with local churches and communities, AfricaHope walks alongside the Maasai people to deepen their love of Jesus, to provide better health for their children, sustainable crops and an improved opportunity for education.

    Why? The hope and truth of Jesus transform lives and communities.

    Tim & Lorna Mantai

    What do they do? Lead AfricaHope Kenya

    Where? Narok region of Kenya, Africa

    How do they make an impact? As director of AfricaHope Kenya, Tim provides leadership to this multifaceted ministry that brings hope to his Maasai people.

    Why? To promote regional transformation by addressing root issues of spiritual and physical poverty, disease and poor infrastructure.

    Steve & Dyan Larmey

    What do they do? Steve is Senior Vice President of Young Life Africa (YLA). Dyan directs the YLA Women’s Leadership initiative and the YLA Training Center and helped found the fair trade company, Karama.

    Where? Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa

    How do they make an impact? Developing African leadership in the twenty-three countries Young Life serves with the goal of establishing YLA in every country across the continent.

    Why? To impact every kid in every country in Africa for eternity.

    Young Life Africa - Mali

    What do they do? Work to make an impact in Mali for eternity 

    Where? Mali, West Africa

    How do they make an impact? Under the leadership of Tiowa Diarra and with Crossroads as the country sponsor, Young Life Africa-Mali introduces kids and teenagers to Jesus Christ. 

    Why? Mali is the center of witchcraft in West Africa. Muslims compromise approximately 90% of the population while less than 1% of the entire population is evangelical Christians.

    Student Christian Fellowship (SCF) is a University of Evansville/University of Southern Indiana Christian student organization. Their mission is to encourage and equip UE and USI students to follow Jesus and participate in Jesus’ mission of bringing hope and restoration to the campus and beyond.

    Deaf Community in America

    Population: Deafness impacts 1 out of 1,000 kids or about 44,000 kids in the United States.

    Family Impact: 90% of deaf children have hearing parents, but only 10% of hearing parents of deaf children know sign language. On average, 8 out of 10 deaf teenagers cannot follow basic family conversations at home.

    Religion: Most deaf kids do not go to church. Many are biased against any religious institution due to painful experiences in the church. Less than 2% of all deaf people attend church of any kind.

    Matthew & Jessica Belwood

    What do they do? Train and equip new ministry leaders and connect them with new ministry sites, providing save places for deaf teens to learn about the love of Jesus.

    Where? Louisville, KY

    How do they make an impact? As national leaders in Deaf ministry, they serve Deaf teenagers across the nation through Youth For Christ/Deaf Teen Quest.

    Why? Deaf teenagers are a subculture in America that is largely without

    Where? Port-de-paix, Haiti

    How do they make an impact? Building hope and providing a firm education for Haitians to reach Haitians with the Good News.

    Why? To teach and train church leaders who will bring Haiti to the foot of the Cross.
